Hycann Health is a Swissmedic-licensed pharmaceutical wholesaler headquartered in the canton of Vaud, with a branch office in the canton of Zug. We do not cultivate ourselves and we do not stand at the patient’s bedside. Our contribution lies in between: making sure that a carefully grown cannabis flower arrives at the pharmacy fresh, undamaged and well documented – and from there reaches the patient.

Hycann Health SA was founded in 2023 at the Biopôle campus in Epalinges, one of the densest life-sciences hubs in western Switzerland. Research laboratories, biotechs and clinical studies are not a backdrop here but our neighbourhood. This has shaped our attitude: a cannabis flower is a medicinal product and deserves the same care as any other prescription substance – reproducible in its effect, batch after batch, with a transparent supply chain from cutting to pharmacy.
Since 2024 we have also served our pharmacy customers through the branch office in Steinhausen (ZG), where we hold a Swissmedic authorisation portfolio covering the import, manufacturing and export of medicinal products as well as wholesale and foreign trade in medicinal products.
This is supported by a team that brings together experience rarely found in one place: from cultivation, from GMP manufacturing, from pharmacy practice, from pharmaceutical wholesale and from logistics. This mix enables conversations on equal footing – with cultivation partners about growing methods and botany, with pharmacists about magistral compounding, with physicians about fields of application.

What our Swiss base means day to day: orders usually reach the pharmacy the next day, every batch is under Swiss supervision, and a team answers questions in four languages. Whether a flower comes from Switzerland or from abroad makes no difference. What this means in detail:

The THC level alone does not determine the effect.
What makes cannabis special is its complexity. The effect is determined by the interplay of many compounds – some of which behave surprisingly:
THCV
Closely related to THC, yet in low doses it blocks precisely the CB1 receptor that THC activates – and is therefore being researched as an appetite suppressant. The opposite of the well-known «munchies».
β-Caryophyllene
Also gives pepper and cloves their scent, binds directly to the CB2 receptor – and is thus regarded as the «cannabinoid from the kitchen».
Cannflavin A & B
Inhibit the formation of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins around thirty times more strongly than aspirin.
α-Pinene
α-Pinene gives coniferous forests their scent – and is considered a possible counterpart to THC: it is being researched because it may attenuate THC’s short-term memory impairment.
Much of this is only beginning to be understood. That is exactly what we find fascinating – and it is the reason we treat every cultivar as what it is: an organism in its own right, not an interchangeable gram of active ingredient.
